Our team and our colleagues from Mazars Thailand and Mazars Australia attended Xerocon Melbourne 2017 conference, gathering cloud accounting leaders from Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific.
We were together with more than 3,000 people attending this amazing event! Out of all the interesting insights we had at XeroCon, here are our 4 biggest takeaways:
The Xero platform keeps adding new features to make the lives of accountants and small/medium businesses easier
Xero keeps delivering new products to improve its platform and ecosystem! Among the major releases are as follows:
- Xero Expense Claims: Xero did a complete rebuild of their expense claims module. Hence, it features an all new user interface which makes it easier for users to record and approve their expenses. Moreover, Xero’s new expense claims mobile app would take pictures of receipts and utilize machine learning and artificial intelligence to automate much of the tedious manual processing currently required.
- Xero Projects: A feature helping startups and SMEs track costs and profitability for each job performed.
- Xero Discuss: A feature which allows for clearer communication channels between accountants and our clients
One we particularly like is the new Xero Conversion Toolbox which helps businesses transition from any other accounting software to Xero by using various importing tools. This was not an easy task initially so we welcome the update!
Cloud integrators were heavily featured
Cloud integrators are providing consulting services for businesses with regards to which Xero add-ons can help them to eliminate paperwork, streamline processes and increase business efficiency. Most of them are based in Australia and New Zealand such as SMB Consultants and TradiePad. We should start seeing cloud integrators appear in Singapore and other Asian countries in the region.
The Xero ecosystem develops beyond accounting with BOMA
Something beyond accounting caught our attention at XeroCon Melbourne 2017: the ability for businesses to promote and market their expertise and business through content creation and distribution across various social media channels with BOMA, a SaaS platform Xero users can sync with XeroHQ.
We were intrigued as we are considering giving it a go.
Collaboration between Xero and IRAS in Singapore
That’s great news for us and our clients: Xero is collaborating with IRAS as they are working to make GST reporting and tax filing doable within the beautiful accounting software. These new updates should be coming within the next 3 months. We will make sure to let you know whenever we hear from them!
